My New Blogs

Hello all my followers. I have divided my blog posts out to several different blogs based on posting topics. It did not seem right to have a blog post about Homeschooling one day and then the next day have a blog post about being a Survivor of Abuse all on the same blog.

It occurred to me that my followers might prefer to be able to pick and choose which topics they followed that I blog about. Also I wanted more freedom with which blog posts were automatically promoted, and where.

Dyslexia Breakthrough

My third daughter has struggled quite a bit with dyslexia.  We happily stumbled upon a wonderful reading tutor who has been helping her with reading quite a bit.  She has been making steady improvements because this reading tutor knows exactly what my daughter needs to work on.  We have been very happy with her and with the steady improvements in my daughters reading.

Fantasy Map of My Back Yard

My boys and their sister are playing in the back yard today.  They just brought in this great map to show me.  What great imaginary play, I am delighted with this map.

Food Service Specalist Training (Health) – Lesson 1: Brush Your Teeth

Here is a quick overview of the Health lesson I just taught my boys.

• Good Soldiers take care of their teeth!
• If you do not take care of your teeth all of your teeth will fall out.
• If all of  your teeth fall out you will not be able to eat.
• If you are not able to eat you will die!

(Yes my boys loved the dramatics of these statements 🙂

Army Buzz to get Ready for Boot Camp

My boys were SUPER excited to get their Army buzzes. They have had Army buzzes before several times, but somehow this was so much more interesting to them this time because of our Homeschool Boot Camp theme.  Now that they have their buzzes they are almost ready for boot camp.

Reveille & Taps

Today I introduced Reveille and Taps to my boys.  We will be using Reveille and Taps in our daily routine for our Homeschool Boot Camp Theme.  Below are some of the videos we watched to introduce these songs.

Letter to WWII Veteran

My daughter got the opportunity to write a letter to two WWII veteran’s for her health class.  Now my sons want me to find out how they can get a chance to write to a WWII veteran too.  I am sure I can find them someone to write to, it will just take some research.

Field Trip: General Army Navy Store ;)

We took a “field trip” to the General Army Store today for homeschool.  We looked over everything in the store to get ideas for this theme.  I was interested in the wire saws, I wonder what kind of project I can have the boys do using a wire saw?  The store is decked out with cool old Army equipment, attached are pictures of my boys and my daughter with two of the missiles.  My daughter goes to a charter school so she is wearing her school uniform.

Chalk Handwriting Practice

Well, you cant see the letters and numbers he wrote in chalk very well, but he is still cute. 🙂

Boot Camp Theme Homeschool Swag 2015

The boys right now are decorating their mini 5×7 composition notebooks with duct tape.  They chose Camouflage duck tape and Diamond metal plate duck tape.  Maybe I can post some photos when they are done.

Hello I am Jeanine. I have been a SAHM for 9 years and a WAHM mom for 7 months. Our family is running like a gazelle Dave Ramsey style in order to pay out of debt, this is why I have started to WAH. My DH also took on a 2nd job. Life around here has gotten a little bit crazy, but I do hope I will someday feel like I have adjusted to the new lifestyle.

Coments on Screwtape Letter #8 Undulation

This is like the classic pride cycle you learn about in the Book of Mormon and high school Seminary.

The Nephits humble themselves and are favored of the Lord, then they become prosperous and blessed.  Soon they become prideful, and sinful and need to be humbled by the lord… cycle repeats.

But more personal then that, this quote was the nugget of truth I was searching for.

I feel like truth brings happiness. When we humans suffer it is most often because we do not know, or are not living, some nugget of truth.

Thus when I feel I am suffering from some version of lack of truth, I start praying, pondering, and searching for the nugget of truth I am lacking.

You Know You’re Home Schooling When. .

I just had one of those “You Know You’re Home Schooling When. . .” moments and posted it to Spirited Sons collection of funny things. Here was my post.

You know you are homeschooling when… You kids get out all the disposable bowls and cups and make a large stack almost touching the ceiling. And instead of getting mad (which you are tempted to do) you say “now count them” and consider buying extras just for manipulative play.

I was watching one of my second-grade girls try unsuccessfully to tie her shoes the other day, and I thought, “This is a person who is supposed to be learning plural possessives?” I think not.
